The world is increasingly talking about the principle that says that if you are not on the Internet you do not exist. It must be admitted that being up to date with the trends on the Internet can very often come in handy in everyday life. Paper ads are losing popularity all the time, and more and more of public life is happening digitally.

The development of a region depends very much on how the region presents itself online. For this reason, every city should have its own website promoting it online. This greatly facilitates access to information about the regions and their points of interest, which can encourage tourists to visit them and draws the attention of investors. Such a site must, of course, be clear and accessible to every person. For this reason, it is important that it complies with WCAG standards. In the case of larger cities or companies, this should not be a problem due to the large budget, but in the case of these smaller cities, these sites are not always of the best quality.

The City of Larissa’s website is an example of a good website that complies with WCAG standards. It is easy to read and at the same time done in an aesthetically pleasing way. it has options for the elderly and disabled such as changing the font and background color, changing the font size and much more. There are links to social media, or a button to quickly find a contact to the creators and write an email. The animations are smooth and pleasing to the eye, and the pictures are well color-matched. So it is a simple but effective and correct website.

In 2020, 78% of the population of Greece had access to the Internet, and in the case of Poland it was almost 87%. Despite the difficult geographic location, internet coverage is very good. In most parts of Greece we will benefit from LTE. This will certainly be the case on the most popular islands and tourist routes – the Greeks know very well that Internet access is important even for tourists these days.

ABOUT US

On a daily basis we study at the Zespół Szkół Ponadpodstawowych in Drobin.

Our group is students of the fourth year of technical school, majoring in computer science, and consists of 7 people: Bartek, Dominik , Kacper, Filip, and three Patryk’s.

We take part in the Mobility Project and we are participating in this trip to develop our web development skills and to learn about another country and its standards or culture. We will try our best to present the information that we obtained in our school and in the mobility.

The topics of our work are “The impact of digital technologies on regional development” and “Comparison of the effects of a pandemic in Poland and Greece.” These are very important topics in our time, which will allow us to better understand the principle of regional development.
